The day the crayons quit!!!

Hi!

It has been so long since our last update, you must be wondering if we are even meeting up.

But you know its a club and we all wanna read!!! So we ARE meeting up... only the updates are slow.

So this friday, 16 of September, we met.

Attendees : There were 5 people attending and I was the moderator. Suprith was an online attendee.

The book!

This is the book we read :  'The day the crayons quit' by Drew Daywalt and the pictures are by Oliver Jeffers.

The pictures look like kids drew them with crayons!

Its about a boy named Duncan, who reaches for his crayons only to find a bundle of letters.
And these letters were each written by a crayon

Book Reading :

So, what happens if the crayons quit? I think it is metaphorical for us to wonder what would it be like if there were no colours.

Anyhow, each color has its own story about why it is happy/ unhappy about being Duncan's crayons.

We all took turns to read a page each until we got to the end of the book.

The silliest bits were when Dumcan was read as 'Dung-can'. The kids kept it up, throughout the reading.

Our Favourite parts :

All of us loved the peach crayon's letter. He is all of our favourite!!! Suprith, Paul, Nandan, Rudra and Jayadeep, all of us love the Peach crayon because... because he has no wrappings.

Rudra and Jayadeep also love the blue crayon because he became short and stubby.

Nandan also liked the Yellow-Orange crayons as they were fighting about being the color of the sun.
We believe both are the colors of the sun.

Most interesting words : tattletale

Thats all for today! More next time

Reporting our very first reading club meeting on the 5th of August 2022.

Attendees : There were 5 people attending and I was the moderator for yesterday.

Name of the Reading club

As can be seen, the proposed names were
     Rudra's club  - 2 votes
The booklets (like the piglets) - zero votes during polling
The ickabog (like the book) - zero votes during polling
     Pick a book - 2 votes
The Book Raiders - All 4 votes
The duck club - 1 vote
     Musketeers Club - 2 votes

The Rules :
We then went over the first few rules for the club and came up with a rule each. We will be strictly adhering to these rules.

No snatching books from each other
Keep quiet and listen to each other
Read your book (when you read) silently
Pay attention to what is going on around
Pay attention when one is talking

Book Reading :
We then took turns to read and understand the story from the book - "How to catch a star" by Oliver Jeffers. You can also buy this on Amazon if you think it may be fun.

Here are some of the interesting pages:

He can fit his entire sandwich in his mouth!

What... His rocket is out of petrol?? Thats not right, the rocket may need Diesel. Oh mann... the Rocket needs Rocket fuel. Its nothing like Diesel or Petrol.

We all can make Sea Gull noises now. Not sure the boy was speaking the right language.

How can he reach the star from the top of a tree.. but look its only a few feet.

He is reading the same book with his star and it is for Marie and PAUL !!!

Most interesting words : Jetty, enough and lasso

Thats all folks!
Our next meeting is to be scheduled when all our members are available.
Side note: One of our members is a dormant member and will be appearing whenever available. Dormant like a VOLCANO!
